Margie V. Marrs completed her teacher certification at Alexander Technique Center Urbana with Joan and Alex Murray in 2011. In addition, she studied extensively with Rose Bronec at Alexander Technique Urbana, Jane Heirich (author of Voice and the Alexander Technique) at Alexander Technique Ann Arbor, and at the Fellside Alexander School in Kendal, Cumbria, England.

After completing her graduate studies in piano and voice at the Royal Academy of Music (London) and Washington State University, Margie taught voice, diction, vocal literature, vocal pedagogy, and music theory courses at Coe College (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) from 1978 to 2014 .During that period she served as Music Department Chair, Iowa Governor of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, Director of Music and soprano soloist at Temple Judah, and principal soloist for the Coe College Baroque Chamber Ensemble. In 1999, she edited a volume of Czech folk songs entitled Whither Little Path.

In addition to her work at Coe, Margie is a Visiting Guest Professor at Shenyang Music Conservatory (Shenyang, China) and has performed and conducted master classes throughout the Midwest and in such overseas locations as Damascus, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Hangzhou, and Hohot, Inner Mongolia. Retiring from Coe in August of 2014 as the Pearl M. Taylor Professor of Music Emerita, she continues to teach Alexander Technique at Coe and privately in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City.
